Designation: Laboratory Technologist Specialist

Requirements:
Perform and report the assigned laboratory tests according to established policies / procedures. Assist the laboratory manager and sectional supervisor in the coordination of laboratory activities. Provide accurate, timely and cost effective testing of patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in compliance and harmony with the quality management system.
>May work in several sections of the clinical laboratory or may be only in one section according to MMUR requirments.
> May aid phlebotomist in the Out-Patient or In-Patient Sections if needed.
> Donor selection, blood collection, processing and preparation of blood components such as Packed RBCs, Fresh Frozen Plasma, Platelet Concentrate and Cryoprecipitate in case working in the blood bank section.
> Works in the sorting area and is aware of the requirements of acceptance of different samples.
> Prepares specimens and operates on automated analyzers and perform manual tests in accordance with detailed instructions according to the manufacturer.
> Performs daily Q.C of different equipments. Runs the quality control and makes sure that it is accepted before running the samples.
> Operates laboratory equipments, clean and maintains them according to the manufacturer instruction and can perform minor troubleshooting
> Ensures compliance with the quality control program to ensure that reagents, equipments and methods function are as expected, and that it is compliant to policies and procedures
> Make sure that all collected samples are dealt with for result releasing in accordance to the lab’s TAT compliance
> Release test reports utilizing the laboratory/hospital information systems.
> Reports the critical value results according to MMUR policy.
> Participates in checking, ordering, and follow up supplies needed in the assigned area.
> Collects and records data needed in monitoring turn-around-time or other laboratory indicators
> Perform receptionist duties by answering phones, taking messages in various sections
> Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other hospital employees and the public using principles of good customer service
> Handling and disposal of infectious waste and follows safety policies and procedures
Follow all MMUR policies and procedures, or any other policies and procedure related to laboratory policies.
> Performance in accordance with the standards of the CBAHI, JCI, CAP and AABB accreditation.

Qualification: Bachelor degree of Medical Technology, Medical Science, or equivalent education.
