Designation: Microbiology Technologist

As part of the central laboratory team you will work closely with the Laboratory Medical Director to coordinate medical activities. You will be responsible for conducting accurate, timely and cost effective testing of patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in compliance with quality management protocols. You will be provided with the autonomy to manage your own responsibilities within the laboratory, and will be rotated across various specialities in order to upskill across a variety of disciplines.
> Collect and analyse samples for a wide array of clinical tests using best practices and methodologies across the following disciplines: Haematology, Urinalysis, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology and Serology.
> Be the go-to individual for Microbiological Testing.
> Analyse, document and report results, variations and clinical manifestations, escalating to the Laboratory Medical Director where necessary.
> Ensure compliance with all laboratory procedures, processes and methodologies as well as applicable regulations & requirements of the local healthcare authorities and relevant accreditation bodies.
> Perform and document routine maintenance according to manufacturer’s guidelines and the laboratory’s SOPs. Document all actions and take corrective measures where appropriate.
> Perform quality control analysis and proficiency testing according to defined procedures.
> Maintain and manage adequate inventory of reagents, consumables, test kits and equipment, raising requisitions where necessary.
> Participate in continuous education programs to maintain licensure and remain updated on changes in the medical technology field.

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology / Laboratory Technology or Equivalent.
