King's College Hospital London Dubai is currently looking for a Deputy Chief of Nursing - Critical Care, Emergency and Theatre Services at King's College Hospital London Dubai.
Position Overview :
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Critical Care, Emergency and Theatre Services. (DCNO) ensures service and operational objectives are implemented and will significantly contribute to meeting the organisations strategic, operational and financial objectives.
As an integral member of the senior nursing team, the DCNO is responsible for ensuring and improving the delivery of high quality, safe, evidenced based patient care through professional leadership of nursing and clinical support staff.
The DCNO will provide expert professional advice and work with nursing, medical and allied health colleagues to ensure the development and delivery of clinical and professional standards, delivery of safe high-quality nursing whilst contributing to outstanding operational performance. The DCNO will forge close working relationships with both internal and external colleagues and partners.
PROFESSIONIONAL LEADERSHIP
- Lead and coordinate the identification and formulation of evidence-based nursing and midwifery practice and guidelines within the scope of practice for nurses identified by Dubai Health Authority, UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council UK Code of Conduct.
- Support the development of and promote the King’s College Hospital London (KCH) mission, values, aims and objectives.
- Work with the CNO and other key staff including colleagues in partner organisations to achieve objectives by providing expert professional advice and leading areas of work.
- To provide professional support and leadership to the senior nursing staff ensuring that all Nursing and Midwifery staff across KCH are appropriately supported and developed, at all times promoting a culture which values professional development and strives for excellence in the delivery of patient care and quality improvement.
- Promote evidence based, visible, compassionate leadership, acting as a role model for best practice which will include working clinically on wards/departments at times.
WORKFORCE
- Monitor and evaluate nursing performance across KCH and work with the senior and executive nursing team to ensure both the non-qualified and qualified nursing workforce is well led ensuring a high staff experience and that the appropriate education is commissioned to deliver high quality care and drive the KCH recruitment and retention strategy.
- Be responsible for staffing strategies in order to reduce vacancies, improve retention, decrease sickness and absence, promote career development and recognition of excellence in Nursing.
- Lead quality and service improvement projects or development programmes that contribute to the modernization of patient services in line with KCH transformation and cost improvement programmes.
- Provide transformational leadership and change management in preparing of clinical staff to work in new ways, embracing innovation and technology including in alternative settings to deliver care.
- Support and drive the delivery of high-quality appraisals, training compliance and support and education for qualified and non-qualified staff.
QUALITY, SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
- Work in partnership with the CNO to monitor performance of clinical care and professional standards across KCH and lead strategic and operational project in healthcare to ensure high quality patient focuses services are developed and delivered in line with the organisation’s objectives.
- Contribute to the development and application of safe systems, control processes and risk management arrangement that ensure full compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirements.
- Create a genuine learning culture with a clear message of safe care at all times.
- Work collaboratively with clinical governance to ensure adequate management of clinical risk and improvements in quality and safety.
- Alongside the CNO and in collaboration with colleagues take a lead role to produce necessary outcomes to support the highest quality and safety of patient services and in compliance with regulations governing medical facilities in UAE and the rules of accrediting bodies (such as JCI or equivalent) by initiating changes where required.
BUDGET AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Monitors and controls cost center’s working with the finance department to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Alongside the CNO, participate in strategy planning in effective and efficient utilization of personnel, financial, medical, clinical and administrative resources and in clinical program and service line development; specifically working with clinical and senior team leadership to develop written strategic plans.

- Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification - Essential
- DHA Registered Nurse/Home Country Nursing Registration - Essential
- BLS certified - Essential
- Relevant Masters level studies - Desirable
- Leadership and Management Course/Experience - Desirable
- Educational Qualification or willingness to study towards this within agreed timeframe - Desirable
